As you all know, I got my copy of the v-con last week and almost immediately my head started swimming with all the fantastic possibilities of great and yummy food… The first thing I made were the “herbed-Scalloped potatoes” thought I would start simple and with a side dish, see how Brap fared with full on vegan-chow.
He really liked it
Next thing was the “Snobby Joe’s” I was hesitant to make them because Brap usually has this love/hate relationship with all things bean (he loves to hate them). I convinced him that he wouldn’t even be able to tell there were lentils in the dish, then proceeded to make it crossing fingers and toes the entire time. It was FANTASTIC!!! We even had some left over which is currently residing in the freezer for another night’s feast
Last night I got brave and decided to go where this girl has never gone before… I was going to try my hand at Setain… the v-con has an uber easy (and quite tasty) recipe for that too… Sliced it up.. cooked it in a pan with a little Earth Bal. Salt & Pepper with onions and mushrooms atop it… REALLY GOOD!!!
all in all this is the best 20.00 I have spent on myself in a long time :) I have a feeling there are more books by the Vcon’s creators in my future (vegan cupcakes….mmmmmmmmmm)

Lame pseudo movie ref. I know…. I know….
BUT I have a fantastic reason…
Today……
I became the proud owner of my copy of
THIS
and I am in love (that is of course as much as a girl can be in love with a cookbook)!!!
Close to 300 pages of hard bound vegan cookbook goodness.. Not too many pics but the ones inside are sheer food porn delight. There is a Cholent (Jewish “beef” stew) photographed that even made Brap (the recent omnivert) perk his ears up and say.. “can you make *that*”. Scalloped potatoes, tamales, SAMMICHES (yes they call the chapter on Sandwiches this, how can you not love it!), oh and icecream (now I just need to get an ice-cream maker)
I am sure there will be many a foodie post now… oh yes.. there will be fooooood

One of the many reasons I love Autechre is that I can listen to them at work and find utter beauty in the music.. while those around me, or who dare to enter into my sacred space (aka MY cube) are either repulsed or thoroughly confused by what they are hearing.
All this from a group that performed in total darkness (yes on purpose) so you HAD to pay attention to the music. GENIUS!!!
this reminds me… put as much of them as possible on the mp3 player

I am constantly reminded what a wonderful company I work for. I am always learning new things, even tho I have been here over 5 years (total). For example… I just learned today that we have VEGAN products.. how fantastic is that?? Makes my animal-rights-tree-hugging-neo-hippie-woman heart happy to see that yes, Virginia, it is an issue and there ARE companies that give two shits :) (I happen to work for one *beam*)

Just a brief moment of childish pouting and foot stomping
http://www.sharenow.com/repotheatricalrelease/
why why why why why is it not being relesased any closer to me than San Francisco. Were it being released in oh say.. Santa Cruz I would gladly drive and see it.. but SF is two hours too far for a 2 hour movie *pout*
*back to adult sane thinking*
Well I am sure it’s for the best, I will be able to enjoy it more and often once I own the DVD… oh and own it I shall *evil grin*

Yesterday afternoon I was chatting with my dear wonderful friend Raven who had just moved her entire family (husband, 4 year old son, 9 dogs and 4 cats) into a fantastic new house in Costa Rica. She said that all the animals were adapting well, except for one kitty, Phoebe, who was nowhere to be seen since Sunday.
Being the kitty momma I am and knowing the feeling of panic that ensues when you can’t locate one of your fur-babies I began to think… then it hit me … I am learning Reiki, animals respond well to Reiki and it can be done well from a distance… I had her point me to a picture she had of the sweet kitty girl (and she is adorable btw) so I could have a being to focus on while I did this. Told her I would be back shortly and went to work.
The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes, and MY cats both came into the room to see what crazy momma was doing now. I basically focused warm safe calming energy towards Phoebe, let her know that she was being looked for by Raven and that it really was ok for her to be found. Deep into it I felt this pressure on my chest and some light vibrations as if there was a kitty purring in that spot… both of mine were on the floor staring up at me.. I came out of it nicely and easily… sent a message to Raven stating that Phoebe was still in the house and that she would soon be found. Raven was afk but hopped on 15 minutes after I sent the message to tell me she had JUST found Phoebe in one of their spare rooms in a box.. and she was.. get this PURRING ever so lightly.
I can do this.. makes me feel wonderful actually.
Strange thing is (and it may not be so strange) is that I now look like I haven’t slept for days (nice lovely bags and dark circles under the eyes) and my tummy is *quite* sensitive.
Oh and my girls (Amelie and Miette) are fawning all over their momma as of late *hrmmm*
Interesting it is
